Betty Crumpler Long, 78, of 124 Bowden Drive, Kenansville, North Carolina, passed away at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on Friday, February 9, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Micajah Jacob Crumpler and Rovina Huddler Crumpler. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Elbert Long. Mrs. Long leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Tina Long Clark, her son-in-law, John Litton Clark, and the apples of her eyes, Abbigail and John Litton Clark Jr., her grandchildren. Her sisters are Frances Knowles of Kenansville and Renee Carlton of Warsaw. Her brother is Jimmy Crumpler of Warsaw, and his wife is Rachel Crumpler. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was a long time resident of Kenansville, where she spent 41 years in public service. She enjoyed every minute of it. 15 of those years, she served as the mayor of Kenansville. She worked 22 years in the Duplin County school system making differences in the many different little lives. She also played a big part at DanceWorks of Duplin, helping in every aspect. She was a member of the Kenansville Methodist Church, and she was very active in her church as well as her community. She loved to stay on the go, especially if it involved her daughter and grandkids. She loved White Lake, and she called it her second home. She was known to many as “Mimi”, and she loved it! She was one of a kind, and she was a true blessing to everyone she met. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 12, at Community Funeral Home in Warsaw, North Carolina. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Golden Grove Cemetery in Kenansville, North Carolina, following the funeral. Rose Hill - Maggie Mae Smith Futrell, 97, of Rose Hill passed away at Vidant Duplin Sunday, February 10, 2019. Mrs. Futrell was born in Duplin County April 29, 1921 to the late Franklin Pierce Smith and Lydia Jeanette Brown. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Community Funeral Home of Rose Hill. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9pm Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Community Funeral Home of Rose Hill. Mrs. Futrell is survived by sons, Carl Franklin Futrell of Rose Hill and Norman Harvey Futrell of Burgaw; daughters, Mary Pate and Lois Jackson of Rose Hill; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and twenty-five great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Futrell is preceded in death by husband, Carl Lee Futrell, son, Charles Henry Futrell, brother, Murdock Pedro Smith and grandson, Carl Franklin Futrell, Jr. Wallace - Carolyn Jewel Cavenaugh, 80, of Wallace passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Ms. Cavenaugh was born in Duplin County, November 30, 1938 to the late Walter Guy Cavenaugh and Avis Pearl Batts Cavenaugh. A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Community Funeral Home Chapel of Rose Hill. A visitation will follow the service. Burial will be held 11:00am Monday, February , 2019 at the Henderson Family Cemetery at Pin Hook. Ms. Cavenaugh is survived by brother, Leamon Cavenaugh and wife, Mildred of Wallace; sisters-in-law Joyce Cavenaugh and Shirley Cavenaugh of Wallace; nieces and nephews, Timothy Cavenaugh and wife, Sheila, and Nenia DeFrancis and husband, Donny all of Wallace, Vickie Futral and husband, Mike of Wilmington, Lori Smith and husband, Clifton of Rocky Point, Glen Cavenaugh and wife, Janet and Michelle Bradshaw all of Wallace; and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Cavenaugh was preceded in death by brothers, Guy Cavenaugh and Gene Cavenaugh; nephews, Wayne Cavenaugh and Mitchell Cavenaugh. |
