​Holden Beach - Judy Brown Carr Brock, 71, formerly of Rose Hill, passed away March 20, 2019.  Judy was born August 31, 1947 in Duplin County, NC to the late James Preston Brown and Lucille Jones Brown.  

A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2019 at Dobson Chapel Baptist Church, with visitation following the service. 

Judy is survived by son, Jeremy Carr and wife, Jamie of Rose Hill; daughter, Erin Carr of San Diego, CA; step - son, Phillip Edward “Ned” Brock and wife, Joy of Rose Hill; step-daughter, Pam Quinn and husband, Steve of Kenansville; two brothers, James “Jimmy” Preston Brown, Jr. and wife, Deborah, and Greg Brown and wife, Linda both of Rose Hill; and sister, Sheila Brown Grady and husband, David “Buck” of Rose Hill.  She is also survived by granddaughter, Peyton Carr and three step-grandchildren, Lindsey Quinn, Cody and Phillip Brock.

Jacksonville - Bernice Harold Chambers, 87,  passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington.  Mr. Chambers was born February 18, 1932 in Duplin County, NC to the late Albert Chambers and Alice Parker Chambers. 

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel and burial will conclude the service in Devotional Gardens.

Mr. Chambers is survived by his daughter, Gayle Fell and husband, Dennis of Jacksonville; granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Matthias and husband, David; great granddaughter, Serenity Matthias all of Jacksonville and sister, Dorothy Dail of Kinston. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by wife, Mattie Pearl Chambers; brother, Alvin Jo Chambers; and sister, Kathleen Chambers.

Warsaw - James Ray Scott, 73, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.  Mr. Scott was born March 3, 1946 in Duplin County, NC to Durwood W. Scott and Lena Grace Phillips Scott.  

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Community Funeral Home Chapel, Warsaw, NC.  Burial will follow the service in Pinecrest Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a. m. at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw, Inc.

Mr. Scott is survived by sisters, Nancy Scott Williford, Dr. Shelby Scott Chadwick, and Patricia Scott Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by brother, David Scott.

All service will be held at the funeral home or grave site.

​Warsaw - Allen Junior Griffin, 66, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.  Mr. Griffin was born March 29, 1952 in Lenoir County, NC to the late George Allen Griffin and Mable Beatrice King Griffin.

Mr. Griffin is survived by brothers, Jimmy Griffin and wife, Patricia of Turkey, NC and Willis Lee “Pee Wee” Griffin of Holly Ridge; and sister, Glenda Stancil and Doris Mercer both of Kenansville, NC.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by wife, Kimberly Sutton Griffin; brother, Arnold “Billy” Griffin; half-brother, Bobby Floyd King; and sister, Mary Weeks.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 in Devotional Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
