Goldsboro - Margaret Barnette Newsome, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Newsome was born May 12, 1936 in Duplin County, NC to Donnie Lewis Barnette and Mary Ruth Stroud Hare.
A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019 in Community Funeral Home Chapel with visitation following the service. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2019 in Devotional Gardens, Warsaw, NC. Mrs. Newsome is survived by two sons, William Donnie Best and wife, Linda of Goldsboro, David Glenn Best of Mount Olive; four daughters, Mary “Kay” Powell and husband, Ken of Calypso, Vicki Taylor and husband, Timmy of Albertson, Traci Best of Goldsboro and Crystal McCullen and husband, Donald of Goldsboro. She is also survived by two half-sisters, Gloria Southerland of Warsaw, Diana Buford and husband, Jesse of Mount Olive; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by husband, Billy Ray Newsome; son, Elwood Gerald Best; half sister, Mary Whaley and two great grandchildren, Noah Kornegay and Ella Kornegay.

West Monroe, LA - Pauline Massey Cooke, 92, formerly of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Landmark Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Cooke was born November 16, 1926 in Smithfield, NC to William Henry Massey and Avie Woodard Massey.

Clinton - Cecil Blackmon Hall, 69, of Clinton passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at Sampson Regional Hospital. Mr. Hall was born in Wayne County July 8, 1949 to the late Blackmon Avant Hall and Nimmie Elizabeth Cruse Hall.
A visitation will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Community Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Community Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Devotional Gardens Mausoleum. Mr. Hall is survived by wife, Judy Allen Hall of the home; daughters, Rebecca Higgins and husband, Greg of Athol, MA and Macy Larios-Medina and Carlos of Miami, FL; brothers, Larry Hall and wife, Christine of Leland and Kerry Hall and wife, Teresa of Warsaw; sisters, Annette Faircloth and Nancy Simmons and husband, Allen all of Clinton; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Childrens Hospital. Wallace - Joyce Batchelor Cavenaugh, 84, of Wallace passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Lenoir Assisted Living in Pink Hill. Mrs. Cavenaugh was born in Onslow County April 2, 1935 to the late John Henry Batchelor and Sarah Lena Batchelor.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cavenaugh was preceded in death by husband, Homer Guy Cavenaugh and brother, John Love Batchelor and wife, Helen. Warsaw - James Harold Matthis, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at The Garden’s of Rose Hill. Mr. Matthis was born December 24, 1929 in Duplin County, NC to Doctor Leroy Matthis and Eva Boney Matthis.

Virginia Beach, VA - Roger Edwards Belch, 79, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at Heritage Hall in Virginia Beach, VA. Mr. Belch was born January 30, 1940 in Colerain, NC to Zeddic Albert Belch and Ida Lee Edwards Belch. Mr. Belch is survived by son, Roger E. Belch, II and wife, Heather of Hobbsville, NC; daughters, Connie Lois Sykes of Virginia Beach, VA, Renee Cegelis of Ohio, Janet Britt and husband, Danny of Virginia Beach, VA.; eight grandchildren, Melissa Legg, Jason Sykes, Jay Sykes, Roger Belch, III, Zachary Belch, Brianna Belch, Jacob Belch, and Shelby LeeAnn Belch; three great grandchildren, Caitlin Legg, J. J. Sykes and Autumn Lillie Legg; and sister, Shirley Cob. In addition to his parents, Mr. Belch was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Zachary Belch.
