Sudie Jane Maready Arnette, 92, of Kenansville passed away at The Gardens Of Rose Hill Sunday, May 28,2023. Mrs. Arnette was born March 5, 1931 in Onslow County to the late Riley Roe Maready and Geneva Lanier Maready. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Kenansville Baptist Church. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Kayla Kilpatrick, 251 Stokes Gooding Road, Kenansville, NC 28349. A private entombment will be held at Devotional Gardens. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Regina Kilpatrick and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Robin Mewborn and husband, Wesley of Kenansville, David Kilpatrick and wife, Taylor of Beulaville, Kayla Kilpatrick of Kenansville, Jason Arnette and wife, Robyn of Clinton and Shane Arnette of Florida; great grandchildren Macy Mewborn, Case Mewborn, Chloe Kilpatrick, Shep Kilpatrick, Jake Arnette, Harbor Arnette, Ashley Arnette and Rachel Arnette; brothers, Gurman Maready and wife, Reba of Cape Carteret, John Maready of Jacksonville, Edgar Maready; sisters, Rebecca Smith of Maysville, Jenny Collins and husband, Hadley of Maysville; sister-in-law Judy Maready of Jacksonville. Ronnie Lee Torrans, 84, of Warsaw passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at ECU Duplin in Kenansville. Mr. Torrans was born January 3, 1939 to the late David Lee Torrans and Lucille Kerr Jordan Torrans. A funeral service will be held at 6:00pm Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at James Kenan High School with visitation to follow. Burial will take place 2:00pm Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Devotional Gardens. Eloise Pate Beddingfield, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in Raeford, NC. Mrs. Beddingfield was born October 4, 1940 in Duplin County, NC to the late Albert Pate and Elizabeth Miller Pate.

Mrs. Beddingfield is survived by three sons, Larry Beddingfield and wife, Pat of Mount Olive, Mitchell Beddingfield and wife, Nikki of Chinquapin and Timothy Beddingfield and wife, Felicia of Kenansville; daughter, Kay B. Brock and husband, Victor of Raeford, 15 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild. Warsaw - Robert "Robbie" Steven Pate, Sr., 69, of Warsaw passed away suddenly, May 14, 2023 at his home. Mr. Pate was born February 12, 1954 in Duplin County, NC to the late Robert George Steven Pate and Emily Estelle Quinn Pate. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow in the Pate Cemetery. Mr. Pate is survived by his loving wife, Debra P. Pate of the home; sons, Robert Steven "Stevie" Pate, Jr. Christopher Dale Pate and Johnathan Wayne Pate all of Warsaw, brother, Ronald "Ronnie" Glenn Pate and wife, Diane of Magnolia; and sisters, Rebecca Sue Pate of Warsaw, Reba Gail Arnett and husband, Thomas of Rose Hill and several nieces and nephews. Joseph Fussell Matthews, of Teachey, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at the age of 74.
Joseph, known by his friends as Joe, was born May 4, 1949. He was an avid farmer who loved tending his farm, working the land to provide fresh vegetables to the community at Matthews Produce. During the off season Joseph loved to fish at Topsail Beach. He loved the sport of golf and played many courses across North Carolina for over 20 years. Joseph loved to cook for his family and friends at the "Pond House." It was all considered a good days work to go fishing and come home and have a fish fry complete with all the fixings. And let's not forget that famous collard soup. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, of 54 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Belinda English (Billy), Joe Matthews (Aretha), Kim Blanchard (Chris), and Timothy Matthews (Heather), his grandchildren, JoAnnah Escobar (Gil), Allyson Reaves (Allen), Marshall Matthews (Allena), Marrionna Matthews, Joshua Barber, Jack Barber, Brookelynn Matthews, Case Barber, Cooper Barber and Stallonne Matthews. Great grandchildren Ryan, Annabel, Mattie Wray, Lucas, and soon to arrive, Austin and his sisters, Linda Mills (Bob) and Patsy Smith (Bobby). He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alton and Mattie Lee Matthews, brothers, Jimmy and Elvin, sister, Anna Williams and his faithful companion, Maggie.
