Ollie Franklin "Bob" Straughn, Jr., 82, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC. Mr. Straughn was born November 9, 1938 in Sampson County, NC to the late Ollie Franklin and Eva Bell Barber Straughn. A funeral service will be held 6:00pm, Thursday, January 28, 2021 in Community Funeral Home Chapel, Warsaw, NC. A private burial will be held in the Straughn Family Cemetery in Warsaw, NC. Bob is survived by wife, Lois L. Straughn of the home; sons, Steven Straughn and wife, Dawn of Burgaw, and Bobby Straughn and wife, Jessica of Warsaw; daughters, Melinda Kelly of Texas, Robin Harris and husband, Vincent of Liberty, Lesia McKenzie and husband, Brian of Wendell, and Jessica Straughn Sawyer of Warsaw; brother, Clayton Straughn of Clinton, sisters, Betty Jean Faircloth of Clinton and Eva Lee Brown of New York; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a four-legged companion, Brandy. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by brother, Stacy Straughn.

Ricky Gill Sloan, 66, passed away January 24, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Mr. Sloan was born May 18, 1954 to Winnifred Hollowell Sloan and the late Erwin Gill Sloan. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in Community Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following the service in Devotional Gardens. Mrs. Barnette was born October 7, 1959 in Duplin County, NC to the late Robert Lee and Marie White Gore. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnette was preceded in death by brother, Travis Gore. Dorothy Barwick Killette, 82, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville. Mrs. Killette was born July 18, 1938 in Duplin County, NC to the late Norman and Ruth Lambert Barwick. A funeral service will be held 12:00 p. m., Monday, January 11, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, with burial following the service in Devotional Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Elizabeth "Beth" Jones and husband, Marshall of Bel Air, MD, Wiley Hardy Killette, II and wife, Deb of Mooresville, George Glanton Killette of Warsaw; one brother Robert Earl Barwick of Pine Level; seven grandchildren, Mallory Wilson and husband, Joe, Cameron Jones and wife, Megan Ruzicka, Tyler Killette, Rachael Killette, Allison Killette, Kelly Brown, Kristina Hartsfield; and four great grandchildren, Andrew Hartsfield, Caden Hartsfield, Creek Wroe and Ellie Mae Brown. Warsaw - Oscar Langston, Jr. 85, passed away January 5, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Wilmington, NC. Mr. Langston was born August 6, 1935 in Duplin County to the late Oscar Langston and Edna Grady Langston. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Devotional Gardens, Warsaw, NC Mr. Langston is survived by wife, Carolyn Rhodes Langston; daughters, Ramona Hanchey and husband, Ronnie, Nicole Rose and husband, Gary; step daughter, Tammi Quinn and husband, Tim; step sons, Greg Rhodes and wife, Marisa and Kenneth Rhodes and wife, Debbie; a sister, Leu Ellen Holland; four grandchildren, Kord, Tanner, Eric and Delilah, 13 step grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Mike Dyson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Langston was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Langston. Wallace - Daisy Bell Foster Whaley, 91, of Wallace passed away January 4, 2021 at the Laurels of Pender. Mrs. Whaley was born in Duplin County October 19, 1929 to the late Decautar Foster and Gertie Edwards Foster.

Mrs. Whaley is survived by son, Joseph Whaley of Faison; daughters, Betsy Bloom of Sneads Ferry, and Brenda K.
