Jean was born June 4, 1935 in Duplin County, NC to the late Melvin Shackelford and Virginia Poythress Shackelford. A memorial service will be held 1:00pm, Friday, December 29, 2023 in Community Funeral Home Chapel in Warsaw, NC with visitation to follow the service. Jean is survived by her daughter, Kathy Wilkins and husband, Robert of Warsaw; brother, Ray Shackelford and wife, Grey of Goldsboro; granddaughters, Jamie Pope and Billie Jo McCoy and husband, Don; grandson-in-law, William Pope; great grandchildren, Aidan McCoy, Kenzie McCoy, Logan Pope and Greyson Pope and her beloved fur baby, Simba. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by sister, Sylvia Waters.

Carol was born in Duplin County May 4, 1941 to the late Earl Elmore Bell and Nancy Rosa Bland Bell. A visitation will be held 10:00am Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00am at Community Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow the service at the Devotional Gardens Mausoleum. Mrs. Johnson leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Woody Smith and Stewart Johnson and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Dillon Smith, Matthew Johnson, Ashley Smith, Jesse C. Johnson and Allisa Johnson; great grandchildren, Paislee Johnson, Everett Cordell Johnson, Oaklyn Johnson, and Haven Johnson; brother, Ray Bell; sisters, Pat Murphy and Kay Stroud. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by husband, Everett Cordell Johnson and daughter Teresa Smith. ![]() Esther Juanita Taylor, 93, formerly of Warsaw, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 12, 2023 in Winston-Salem, NC. Juanita was born December 25, 1929 in Duplin County, NC to the late William Waitus Woodcock and wife, Glista Howard Woodcock. Juanita and her husband James were longtime residents of Warsaw and were faithful members of Warsaw Baptist Church prior to relocating to Stanley, NC to be closer to her sister and her family. During her time in Warsaw, Juanita enjoyed numerous pursuits outside the home including the family business, Taylor’s Shoes, and later owning and running her own fabric shop on Front St. Her fondest working memories were of her time with dear friend Wilma Herring, helping to create beautiful draperies. Her primary focus was always providing a loving home for her family. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her son, James Randall Taylor and wife, Melanie, and grandchildren Ryan and Rylie Taylor, all of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by siblings William W. (Sonny) Woodcock, Jr. of Roy, WA, Daniel E. Woodcock and wife, Mary of Wilmington, NC, and her cherished nieces and nephews and their families. Loved ones preceding her in death include her parents, her husband James E. Taylor, son Ronald K. Taylor, and sister Grace Powell Grigg. Her life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Devotional Gardens cemetery in Warsaw, NC. The family will remain at the cemetery immediately following the service to receive friends. Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Todd was born April 21, 1932 in Duplin County, NC to the late John Henry Byrd and Martha Hare Byrd. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Devotional Gardens. Mrs. Todd is survived by daughters, Ruth Brandt and husband, Eric of Lake Waccamaw; Barbara Moss and husband, Vernon of Wilson; son William Earl Rouse of Warsaw; grandchildren, Jessica Andrews, Zachary Millican, and Clinton Ross Todd; and great grandchildren, Cade Andrews, Caitlyn Andrews, Lukas Millican, and Hayden Brandt. She is also survived by sister, Margie Fields of Warsaw and brother, Dr. Luther Byrd of Texas. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Todd was preceded in death by husband, Charles Rei Todd, son, Charles Rei Todd, Jr., two grandchildren, Jennifer Millican and Henry Chase Brandt, brother, Henry, and sisters, Beatrice, Gertrude, Betty, Lillian and Annie. Warsaw - Jenell Kirby Edmundson, 76, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Wayne UNC Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC. Mrs. Jenell was born October 25, 1947 in Wayne County, NC to Amos Kirby, Jr. and Katie Mae Gore Kirby.
Mrs. Jenell was a lifelong member of Johnson Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended and was a active member within church. She was a pillar of her community, with a willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Visitation will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Johnson Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm and burial will conclude the service in Devotional Gardens. Mrs. Jenell is survived by daughter, Jennifer E. Harrell and husband, Jacob of Warsaw, NC; grandchildren, Hunter and Rachel Harrell, sister-in-law, Cathy Best of Mount Olive, NC; half-sister, Pat Singleton of Goldsboro, NC; several special cousins and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Kenansville - Timothy Beddingfield, 56, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Wayne UNC Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC. Timothy was born November 26, 1967 in Wayne County, NC to the late Mose David Beddingfield and Eloise Pate Beddingfield.
