Myrtie Grace Davis Dunn

Warsaw - Myrtle Grace Davis Dunn, 89, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025. Mrs. Dunn was born July 30, 1936 in Sampson County, NC to the late Frank Aaron Davis and Myrtie Green Davis.

Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00pm, Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw. A funeral service will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 in Community Funeral Home Chapel, Warsaw, NC. Burial will follow the service in Devotional Gardens.

Mrs Dunn is survived by sons, Timothy Dunn and wife, Sheila of Warsaw, Benjamin Dunn and wife, Billie Jo of Mount Olive; daughters, Evelyn Turner of Warsaw, and Connie Arnett and companion, John Merritt; daughter-in-law, Mandy Dunn; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dunn was preceded in death by husband, Guy Marshall Dunn; son, Charles Dunn; son-in-law, Nathan “Pee Wee” Turner; brothers, George Davis and John Davis; sisters, Imogene Rosnake, Elaine Beasley, Joyce Byrd, Betty Lou Bell, and Faye Oakley.

Donna Ruth McLean Smith

​Warsaw - Donna Ruth McLean Smith, 66, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at her home.  Mrs. Smith was born December 21, 1958 in Harnett County, NC to the late Charles and Ethel Lovette McLean.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 11, 2025 in Devotional Gardens, Warsaw, NC. 

Mrs. Smith is survived by son, Timothy Jackson and Renee Moore of Goldsboro; daughter, Jessica Daughtry of Warsaw; granddaughter, Karsyn Daughtry; brother, Scott McLean of Sanford; nieces and nephews, Stuart McLean, Charity McLean, Angela Koelbl, Sean McLean; and special niece, Sarah Fairweather.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Duplin County Humane Society, P. O. Box 88, Kenansville, NC 28349.

Annette Boyette Kernstine

Annette Boyette Kernstine, 89, of Hope, Michigan, formerly of Warsaw, N.C., passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025.  Annette was born on January 28, 1936, the third of four children to the late John Wright Boyette, Sr. and Effie McGowan Boyette.
Annette was a 1954 graduate of Warsaw High School.  In 1958, she graduated from UNC Woman’s College in Greensboro, N.C., with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secretarial Administration.  Subsequent secretarial jobs were held with N.C. State Grange, N.C. Dairy Association, and S.C. Dairy Association.

Annette was married to Van Arthur Kernstine for 59 years until his passing in 2018. She met Van in May of 1955 in Greensboro. They married in November 1958 following her graduation and Van’s four years of service in the U.S. Air Force.  They lived in Greensboro until moving to Chester, S.C. in 1964.  In 1969, Annette and Van returned to Warsaw, where they opened and operated a Sears Catalog Merchant Store until it closed in 1993.  Annette was a member of Johnson Baptist Church for most of her life, where she faithfully served as pianist for many of those years.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Art Kernstine (Vicki) of Cumming, GA; Sonya Alexander (Curt) of Hope, MI; Mitchell Kernstine (Mary) of Powhatan, VA; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van Kernstine; sister, Marie Waters; brother, Boyce Boyette; brother John Wright (JW) Boyette, Jr.  

The funeral will take place at Johnson Baptist Church in Warsaw on Monday, October 6, with visitation starting at 10:00, followed by 11:00 service.
