Warsaw - Wayne Stewart Banks, 77, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at ECU Health Duplin in Kenansville, NC. Mr. Banks was born July 6, 1947 in Waynesboro, VA to the late Junior Banks and Mae Louella Fisher Banks. Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Devotional Gardens. Wayne is survive by daughters, Cindy Howery and husband, Darren of Goldsboro; Sabrina Banks and Nancy Louella Fitzgerald both of VA; grandchildren, Brooke Henderson Gwynn and husband, Kyle of Richland, Meghan Pittman Kornegay and husband, Blake of Grantham, Emily Pittman Massengill and husband, Jason of Goldsboro, Sasha Hickman and husband, Andy of VA, Tyler Banks, Billy Banks, Jesse Banks and Dillion Gibson; great grandchildren, Archer and Kole Gwynn, Kendall and Kelsey Kornegay, Ellie Parrish, Christain Parrish, Walker and Tucker Massengill, Everly Faith Hickman, Oakley Grace Hickman, Remi Hickman, and Kimber Hickman. He is also survived by brother Gary Banks and wife, Cindy; and sisters, Debbie Terry and husband, Roy and Tina Burnett and husband, Scottie and sister in law, Pam Banks. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by wife, Joan Lanier Banks and brother, Danny Banks.

Rose Hill - Gary Allen Bass, 68, passed away early Friday morning, August 16, 2024 at Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation in Warsaw, NC. Gary was born December 25, 1955 in Duplin County to Alvin Joe Bass and the late Edna Gray Mathis Bass. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church and a funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with burial to conclude the service in Rose Hill Cemetery. Gary is survived by his father Alvin Joe Bass of Rose Hill; step-daughter, CeCelia Ann Costin (Nick) of Currie; three grandchildren, Ethan Timothy Bracken of Magnolia, Tyler Gray Bracken of Castle Hayne, and Amelia Ann Bracken of Currie; and numerous cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Gray Mathis Bass, step-son, Dylan Gray Costin and brother, Alvin Harold Bass. Warsaw - Carl Gene Benson, 74, passed away Saturday night, August 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Benson was born July 27, 1950 in Wayne County, NC to the late Jonah Robert Benson and Lillie Bell Holmes Benson.
A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel and burial will conclude the service in Devotional Gardens. Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Guy Benson; sons, Wesley "Sean" Benson and wife, Megan and James Robert "J R" Benson and fiancée, Doris Garner; daughters, Elizabeth B. Davis and husband, Stephen and Kelli B. Barbour and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Wyatt, Brayden, J W, Ethan, Zack, Abigail, Isabella, Kayleigh, Alexis, Colton, Maddilyn, Ramsi and fiancée, Carter; great grandchildren, Emily, Nora, Hamilton, and Tracy; and brother, Glenwood "Pinky" Benson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Benson was preceded in death by daughter, Nicole Leigh Benson and brother, Jasper Benson, Sr. |
