Alvin Joe Bass

Rose Hill - Alvin Joe Bass, 92, of Rose Hill passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Warsaw Health and Rehab. Joe was born August 6, 1933 in Pitt County to the late Joseph Kinnie Bass and Pattie Hamm Bass.

Joe spent his work life first with J. P. Stevens, then full time with Pilot Life Insurance Company, later in life he worked part time for over 20 years with Community Funeral Home of Rose Hill. Joe was a huge sports fan with his football team being Kansas City and his basketball team being Carolina. Joe's son Harold played football in high school for Wallace-Rose Hill and Joe was very supportive and continued to support Wallace-Rose Hill after Harold graduated. Joe loved his caregivers at Warsaw Health and Rehab and they loved him. He was glad to have them as part of his family. He was very appreciative for the love and care they gave him for the time he was at Warsaw Health and Rehab. As well as his nieces, Jean Blanton, Judy Williams, and Betty Lanier for the five year they took care of him. Jean referred to Joe as her "Hot Shot" and he said she was his "Cold Shot".

A visitation will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Rose Hill. A funeral service will be held at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church at 2:00pm followed by burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Joe is survived by special nieces, Jean Blanton and husband, Clint, Judy Williams and Betty Lanier, grandson, Chris Bass, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by wife, Edna Mathis Bass, sons, Alvin Harold Bass and Gary Allen Bass; sisters, Mae Dean Coburn and Latha Register.
